Phuket Old Town

Phuket Old Town is a historic district in Phuket, Thailand. It is known for its Sino-Portuguese architecture, which is a blend of Chinese and Portuguese styles. The district is home to several temples, museums, and shops. So if you began to feel bored by the beach and sea view this town might be to perfect location to understand the Thai culture and experience local lives.

The historical, cultural, and administrative center of the Kingdom’s largest island, Phuket Town has a fascinating past. Once it was the transit point for Europeans (French, Portuguese, Dutch, and British), Burmese, Indian merchants, and Malay pirates, among others.

The 19th-century tin-mining boom attracted Chinese immigrants. They brought with them their unique architecture, culture, and cuisine, and eventually married into the local Siamese communities, giving birth to the unique Baba Peranakan culture.
