The Chinese New Year is the biggest and most celebrated festival in Asia, and Phuket Old Town is no exception. Being a lunar festival the celebration has no fixed date, ans this year it falls on 12th February 2021. However, you can expect celebrations starting on the 11th and continuing until the 17th, to welcome the Year of the Ox.
The festival marks a start to the Near Year, so while visits to the shrines in Phuket Old Town will be a must for many, eating, drinking and partying all play their part in the celebrations. Children everywhere love the event as they eagerly await the red envelopes from family that contain money for the New Year. Red is also predominately the color of clothing and decorations. A visit to Talang Road is also a must, as its Sino- Portroguese archtiure will be bedecked with red lanterns and ornaments.
Novotel Phuket City Phokeethra is an ideal location to explore Phuket Town attractions and Talang Road, as it is bound to be the center for the celebrations in Phuket Old Town.
